With a history, unique by its family values which have remained for years throughout the company’s evolution, Mr. Abbas Khalife sailed through his dream of owning a Big Boat to become the founder of one of the most prestigious and well renowned shipping companies in Lebanon.

At 18, he ventured in the trading of vehicles and equipment and in 1997, he purchased his first vessel and established himself in the freight transportation business. His dream became several as his ships became many.

In 2008, Mr. Khalifeh founded East Med in Saida, Lebanon and opened a new firm Lara Trading in Italy.

East Med now charters between 100 and 120 vessels per year operating from Sidon Port in Lebanon, in and out of Mediterranean countries, such as Italy, Spain, Tunisia, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Algeria, Libya and others, transporting a wide range of goods as marble and granite, vehicles and equipment, wood and others.
